The Black Hawk is a Bermudian ketch rigged sailing yacht designed by leading American naval architect Robert H Perry. Inspired by the sleek, fast Yankee clippers developed by New Englanders in the 19th century, by the well know naval architect Nathaniel Herechoff, she embodies the spirit, charm and panache of the golden age of sailing.
The massive teak panelled saloon features a bright, modern and smart contemporary decor. A large dining table where to sit comfortably during dinner is complemented by luxurious settees to relax with a drink after dinner.
Black hawk was built in 1991 for the president of L’Oreal, Mrs Eliane Bettencourt.
BLACK HAWK features four spacious en-suite cabins, two master cabins with queen beds aft and two twin cabins forward all equipped with modern comforts and facilities, each cabin has its own private shower, toilet and independent A/C unit.
The expansive outside deck is laid in teak and features a large central cockpit with cushioned benches where you can take in the view or enjoy open air dining.
The vessel underwent a total refit during the last three winters; she is presently equipped with a 19KW Onan generator complying with the new anti-pollution norms. All A/C units have been replaced and are now independent for each cabin. The engine room was totally rebuilt and completely isolated. A new Perkins/Cat MC 300 HP engine was installed in 2020. The yacht is also equipped with new electric toilets and new long life, 2 volt element 24 volts service batteries in 2 banks of 600 amperes per hour each.
The water maker has an output of 250 litres of fresh water per hour allowing the passengers to take any number of showers they want.
The strong rigging and the large sail area will ensure the ultimate sailing experience, the maximum speed under engine is 11 knots in calm seas and the cruising speed under sail is 7 to 12 knots depending on the direction and the force of the wind.
The Black -Hawk was constructed under Bureau Veritas ( BV) rules for classification at the highest class: *Malta cross*1 3/3 E .PRVT – world Cruiser She complies with the IMO and SOLAS rules , she is certified merchant navy ship for passengers transport (under French regulations).
